Hawes Side Academy, an Ofsted Good-rated primary school serving the south shore of Blackpool, will be joining Endeavour Learning Trust, which spans Lancashire, Sefton and now Blackpool.
Hawes Side Academy has served the Blackpool community for almost 90 years, originally opening in 1937 before converting to an academy in 2012.
Rated Good by Ofsted at its most recent inspection in 2022, the school is known for its ambitious curriculum, strong pastoral care, and deep roots in the local community.
The school has agreed to join the trust and will formally join in the next academic year.
By joining Endeavour Learning Trust, Hawes Side gains access to a proven network of shared expertise, collaborative professional development, and centralised support that frees school leaders to focus on their top priorities of learning and education.
Caroline Boothroyd, headteacher at Hawes Side Academy, said:
"This is a hugely exciting moment for Hawes Side Academy.
“Being part of a family of schools means our staff can grow, share, and learn from colleagues across the North West and our children can benefit from everything that brings.”
“Endeavour shares our values, and is committed to supporting our vision to provide a world-class education for our children whilst investing heavily in staff development, wonderful extra-curricular opportunities and an inclusive, community-based ethos.”
“One of Endeavour’s core values is “Individuality”, meaning that we can continue to preserve our identity and the approaches that have supported us to be successful, whilst working with like-minded colleagues to enhance our offer even further.”
Staff at Hawes Side will benefit from Endeavour's widely respected professional development offer and the depth of collective knowledge across a trust with both primary and secondary schools.
Pupils will benefit from the resources and enrichment opportunities that come with being part of a larger, established family of schools, while Hawes Side's own unique identity and strong community ties will be encouraged and celebrated by the trust.
David Clayton, Chief Executive of Endeavour Learning Trust, said he was delighted to welcome Hawes Side Academy to the growing family of schools. He commented:
"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Hawes Side Academy to the Endeavour family.
“From the moment we started talking with the team at the school, it was clear that we share the same values and the same beliefs that every child deserves an excellent education and the chance to flourish in a family of schools which embraces each child’s individuality and uniqueness.
“Hawes Side is a school with a proud history, a strong community identity, and brilliant staff who care deeply about their pupils and we’re very proud that they will now become part of Endeavour."
The joining of Hawes Side marks a significant step in Endeavour Learning Trust's growth across the North West, extending the trust's reach into Blackpool for the first time and further broadening the range of communities it serves.
